Update at 10.05am

Severn Trent is now saying the work is completed.

Update at 9.30am

Severn Trent Water says most people now have water after a burst water main in Bath Road this morning.

The water leak happened in an alley off Bath Road and Norton Road.

Although Severn Trent Water has isolated the leak, three-way traffic lights have had to be installed to enable the pipe to be fixed.

Severn Trent Water provided this update in a statement at 9.30am.

"The majority of customers affected by the burst water pipe in an alley off Bath Road should now have been returned to supply after our teams isolated the burst.

"We're still moving water round our network in a different way to get the remaining customers back on but it shouldn't be too much longer now.

"We'd just like to say sorry to everyone who's been affected but we expect to get the final supplies back on in the next hour or so.

"While we carry out the repair to the 12-inch pipe that burst this morning, we're putting three way lights on Bath Road to keep our teams safe and will also be organising an alternative pedestrian crossing, and we'd just like to apologise for the disruption this is causing as we know how busy the road can be."

The company previously apologised for the problem which happened during the busy early morning rush.

In a statement, the company said: "We know difficult it is to have no water, especially at this time of day when you’re trying to get ready for work and school, and we’re sorry for the inconvenience this may be causing.

"We aim to have the pipe fixed and the road back to normal as soon as possible."

An earlier statement said: “We are receiving reports of low water pressure or no supply in the Worcester WR5 area, this has been caused by a burst main.

“We aim to update you again by 12pm. Your water supply should then gradually return to normal. Sometimes the water may be slightly discoloured after the supply is restored.

"Running the cold tap gently should clear this. Sorry for any problems this has caused. More info can be found at www.stwater.co.uk/in-my-area."
