POLICE are investigating after a teenager was chased by a man with a knife near Warndon Community Centre in Worcester.

A Facebook post by Kerry Reynolds on Sunday warned the public that her son had been chased with a knife and police have now confirmed they are looking into a knife crime.

A West Mercia Police spokesman said: "Police have received a report of a man in his late teens being chased by another man, carrying what has been described as an unknown object or knife, on fields close to Warndon Community Centre on Saturday evening (6 January).

"Nobody was hurt during the incident and enquiries are in the early stages to establish exactly what happened."

Inspector Chris Percival of Worcester Safer Neighbourhood Team said: "I would like to reassure local residents that officers are continuing to patrol the area as investigations into the incident continue.

"We have spoken to the victim and have not received any further reports, but I urge anyone who may have seen suspicious behaviour in the area to contact us with any information they may have."

Ms Reynolds said on the social media site: "Please please take care around Warndon Community Centre and surrounding areas.

"On Saturday night a man jumped out at my son with a very large knife.

"Curt is ok as he ran, but a man gave chase. Please be careful."
