LESS than two weeks after the county council repaired a giant pothole another large cater has emerged just four feet away.

The new crater located close to the covered pothole, which was thought to be Worcester largest, was spotted in Henwick Road, next to the Gulf Petrol Station, today (Tuesday, January 16).

A Worcestershire County Council spokesman said: “A pothole has opened up in a nearby area to the pothole on Henwick Road that was repaired recently. After the morning’s rush hour we will undertake our repairs on this new pothole.

“This location will also be added to our programme for a more substantial whole road resurfacing later in the year.”

Previously, after being highlighted in the Worcester News, the giant pothole discovered in Henwick Road on Thursday, January 4 was repaired by Worcestershire County Council’s Highways team.

It was thought to have appeared following bad weather and was spotted amongst a series of other smaller potholes.

Following the repair, the council urged residents to report any significant potholes and promised to fix them.

The team tweeted: “Last Thursday a pothole in Henwick Road #Worcester was reported to us by @worcesternews - on Friday it was repaired - tell us about potholes and we’ll get them fixed!”

After we reported on the Henwick Road pothole, our readers highlighted their problems including Brickfields Road, Hylton Road, Tolladine Road, Park View Terrace in Worcester and Camp Lane in Grimley.

Becky Bayer said: “Tolladine road desperately needs doing. There’s potholes everywhere.”

Shona Lane said: “What about the pothole and water leak by the pedestrian crossing at the top of Hylton Road, it’s been leaking for about six months?”

Previously, in October last year council highway chiefs hit back at claims that Worcestershire had the worst pothole problem in the West Midlands after a freedom of information request made by insurance company confused.com said 29,968 potholes were reported in Worcestershire in 2016 amounting to a total depth of nearly 1,2000 metres.

Highway chiefs rubbished the findings responding that the county has in fact some of the best roads in the region.
