THREE youths had to be rescued in Malvern last night after they went for a summer stroll and lost their way at a quarry.

Two boys and one girl, all from Birmingham, were found stuck at the north Malvern quarry cliff above the Malvern clock tower at 7.40pm.

The fire service had to use a harness to help the youths down to safe ground.

A spokesman for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at 7.40pm after three youths were stuck at the north Malvern quarry and found they couldn't get up or down.

"They weren't in any danger of falling off, but the angle was at 45 degrees and they were quite disorientated.

"We had to use a harness to get them down safely."

Yesterday we reported how thrill-seekers are risking their lives by using death-trap quarries as playgrounds this summer.
