POLICE were called to reports of a fight outside a Worcester club in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The fight broke outside Alexanders, in New Street, Worcester, shortly after 2.25am.

The disturbance is said to have involved 12 men, aged in their 20s.

An eyewitness living nearby New Street, said: "It looked like the people were from out of town.

"There were lots of 20 something guys. It is becoming a problem for us living in the area.

"But this is not the first one (fight) we've had.

"At about 2.15am I went to see what was going on because of the noise - it was the fact that so many people (in the street) were saying how unsafe they felt."

A West Mercia Police confirmed reports of an altercation between 12 people, shortly after 2.25am on Saturday (January 27).

He said: "Officers attended and spoke to the individuals involved, remaining in the area to provide reassurance. Nobody was taken into police custody."

Owner of Alexanders club Alexander Fell said: "We had a pre-arranged party which were high-spirited and asked to leave the venue, they did this with no incident occurring.

"Outside we worked along side a small number of police to make sure everyone dispersed safely and to our knowledge there were no injuries and no arrests made."
