MORE businesses including a doctor's surgery have been burgled in Evesham after a spate of similar raids across the town this month.

Police think the burglaries may be linked and believe the suspect may well be from the town although they are keeping an open mind while investigations continue.

The burglaries all occurred overnight last night (Sunday , February 11) and into the early hours of today (Monday, February 12) as West Mercia Police appeals for the public to help them identify and arrest the culprit.

Plan B Computers in High Street and Riverside Surgery in Waterside were burgled and there was also an attempted burglary at Thomas Cook in Bridge Street where someone damaged a skylight but failed to get inside the premises.

Joe Todhunter, owner of Mobile Solutions, Evesham (the Plan B burglary) said eight iPhones and Samsung mobile phones worth £1,200 were taken and a £300 door was damaged during the break-in.

However, he believes he has forensic evidence and dashcam footage which could prove useful to the police's investigation.

He said: "He's cleared out the whole shelf. I feel angry. It's a lot to go missing overnight."

The raids follow burglaries at Clarks in Bridge Street, Evesham on Saturday, February 3 and Mace (Excel News) in High Street, Evesham on Thursday, February 1.

The thief or thieves stole several boxes of cigarettes and tobacco pouches.

A handbag containing cash and bank cards was also stolen after a flat was broken into on High Street, on Friday, February 2.

Detective Inspector David Knight said: "Be vigilant and report anything that looks suspicious. Local police are working together to catch those involved but any help people can give will be appreciated.

"If any businesses in the area wish to discuss their security please call us via, 101."

He added: “It’s clear there is a pattern of offending taking place at the weekends and overnight. Police are working with the community to try and identify offenders but we need more help. We are keeping an open mind but there is a strong likelihood they have been committed by the same person or persons. We think it may be someone local.”

A crime prevention officer will visit a business free of charge to offer advice to businesses. This can include fitting CCTV cameras and monitored alarms and not leaving cash or other valuables in a business premises overnight.
