A BOX alleged to have been used to carry cocaine could not be recovered because it was run over by a lorry said a police surveillance manager.

So-called 'puppet master' Mohammed Nasar, his son Aqib Nasar and alleged lieutenants Steven Binning and Robert Degaris deny conspiracy to supply cocaine in Worcester at their ongoing trial at Worcester Crown Court.

The court heard that a white box was discarded by a Kidderminster roadside after one of the alleged conspirators, Steven Binning, met with taxi driver Saheed Iqbal.

Iqbal drove towards Fort Royal Hill in Worcester and was arrested with 1kg of cocaine worth up to £100,000 on November 13, 2015, the same day the prosecution say he met with Binning, driving a white transit van.

Surveillance leader DC Casey Ward was asked by prosecutor John Butterfield QC if picking up the box immediately would have 'blown your cover' to which she answered 'yes'.

However, she said officers returned 'at the earliest opportunity', around five minutes later, to recover the box at the junction of Greatfield Road and Sutton Road, Kidderminster. She was challenged by Binning's barrister, Edward McKiernan about why the box was not recovered. She said: "As officers were deployed another vehicle ran over it (the box) and it was carried away under the vehicle."

Mr McKiernan asked her why no officers had stopped this HGV but she said no officers were available from a team of eight surveillance officers.

Meanwhile, the jury was played footage of Sarah Lancaster going to Sin bar in New Street, Worcester to meet Mohammed Nasar on December 11, 2015 after being released from Worcester Police Station. Lancaster, said to be romantically linked to Nasar, was arrested with £19,980 of criminal property and a 'dirty phone' earlier that day.

She was released from the station in Castle Street at 9.34pm, arriving at Sin at 9.56pm after she was dropped there by Neil Taylor, driving an Audi A4, described by DC Robert Griffiths as 'a known associate' of Nasar. Lancaster can be seen meeting Nasar inside in a roped off staff area. Nasar can later be seen shaking hands with two doormen before he leaves.

The trial continues.
