SUPPORTERS of the Mappfest music festival braved the cold to help raise money for the event.

Members of the festival committee went out for a pub crawl around the town dressed as wedding belles.

Julie-Anne Goode, the committee chairman, said: "It was a wonderful evening and we made a great £230 in sponsors money and in collecting.

"We are extremely grateful to the Nags Head, the Foley, the Gloster Arms, the Bakery Inn, the Prince of Wales and also the Great Malvern Hotel. It was a fun evening and lots of people were so supportive.

Committee members has also hoped to hold a sponsored walk across the Malvern Hills,but this fell victim to the snowy weather

Other fundraising events coming up soon are an acoustic evening on Saturday, March 17, at the Alma Tavern, Worcester. a live band covers night at Priors Croft in Malvern on Sunday, April 1, and an event at the Marrs Bar, Worcester, on Sunday, May 6.

She said: "We are extremely grateful for the support of everyone that’s been helping us, namely the managers of each of the pubs and clubs and all the people taking part and the bands too.

"Andy Mapp, our president is now putting the final plans together. We are also excited to announce that we again have the wonderful Malvern Rocks Stage who support us so well and are fantastic addition to the festival.

"Selecting the bands and artists for this year’s festival is going well and there is so much fabulous talent.

"Things are coming together nicely for the Mappfest Festival and we have not started to work on our programme for the festival, so if anyone wants to advertise please go to our website mappfest.co.uk. "We have a wonderful committee that is ensuring a smooth operation and they do all this in their own time."

This year’s festival will be on Saturday and Sunday, June 16 and 17. There are still spaces for stalls, and anyone interested can find out more at mappfest.co.uk.
