THE funeral for former Worcester News sports editor Paul Ricketts will be held next month.
A service will take place at Worcester Crematorium, on Monday, April 16, from 10am to 11.30am.
It will be followed by a wake at the Graeme Hick suite, Worcestershire County Cricket Club, from noon.
Donations on the day will go towards a bench in memory of Mr Ricketts.
Mr Ricketts, whose career in journalism stretched back to the late 1960s, served as the paper's sports editor from 1990 until his retirement in 2015.
He was remembered as a newspaperman through and through, loving husband and father, keen cricketer and great wit.
His wife Ann died 18 months ago.
He leaves a daughter Michelle, son Steven, his sister Lesley and grandchildren Harrison, Phoebe and Liam, as well as many friends and colleagues.
