UPDATE:

Traffic seems to have returned to normal after the earlier nightmare conditions which left many areas at a standstill.

The Worcester News has also learned that a trial was delayed this morning due to members of the jury being caught in traffic. The last juror arrived at 11am when they were supposed to be in court at 10 am. The barristers were also late.

Original story

Traffic queues and heavy congestion is affecting parts of Worcester.

There is heavy traffic on The Tything, Castle Street and Deansway.

St John's roundabout is clogged and traffic towards Hylton Road and the river bridge is heavy.

Hylton Road is backed up with traffic heading towards the town centre.

Bromwich Road, heading into the town centre from the Southern Ring Road, is heavily congested.

Traffic is also heavy on Spetchley Road near The Oak Apple Pub.

It is not clear what has caused the traffic but a broken down bus has been reported on B4550 Rainbow Hill.

Here, traffic is building both ways between Lansdowne Crescent and Dutton Street.

The bus has broken down near to Dutton Street and queues are quickly building both ways as traffic tries to get round it.

Traffic is already slow in the area due to the roadworks near Lansdowne Road, by the Vets surgery.

Worcester Highways tweeted that the traffic is due to New Road being restricted to 1 lane. Today is the last day of restrictions here, three lanes will be open tomorrow morning.
