STAFF at a Powick after-school club are celebrating a good Ofsted report.

Inspector Tina Smith visited Sunrise Sunset Kidz Club, located at Powick Parish Hall, in Malvern Road, on April 27.

The setting received a good rating for the effectiveness of the leadership and management, quality of teaching, learning and assessment and personal development, behaviour and welfare.

The report read: "Children thrive in the warm and welcoming club. Children form close bonds with the kind and attentive staff, who place a high priority on helping children feel at ease and emotionally secure.

"Children's behaviour is very good. They play well together and make friendships across the age groups."

Sunrise Sunset Kidz Club owner Katie-Lou Bassett said: "We are thrilled. Obviously everyone wants to get outstanding but we are really proud.

"We are really pleased. We had a lovely day with the Ofsted inspector who was very positive and encouraging and I feel the report is a true reflection of the club."

To become outstanding, the club needs to use the information it gains from reception teachers as well as they could, to fully compliment and build on children's experience from school.

Staff also need to establish more effective ways to share information with parents.

The club has 12 children, aged between three and 11, on a roll with 35 places available.
