WOMEN of all ages will be able to build confidence whilst riding on the roads with a special one-off cycling workshop.

Organised by Malvern Hills District Council, Couch to Cycling with Confidence will be held on Thursday, 21 June 21, from 6.30pm to 8pm at Victoria Park, Malvern Link.

Aimed at women and girls, the £15 course works to boost confidence with riding on the road, as well as discovering new routes.

Couch to Cycling Confidence has six places available which will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Rachel Vann, the council's physical activity and well-being officer, said: “Some women can feel unsafe or uncomfortable when cycling on the roads, so this evening course is a great chance for them to improve in confidence in a supportive and nurturing environment.

“There are an abundance of different routes to explore across the county to suit cyclists of all ages and skill level.”

Cllr David Watkins said: “Encouraging people to be more active is a key part of our five year plan and cycling is a really effective way of doing this.

“It is so important that cyclists learn how to stay safe whilst riding on the roads and the main component of this is having confidence in themselves and in their knowledge of the rules.”
