THERE’s a number of exciting activities accompanying the women’s cycle race being held in the city this Saturday.

The city's roads will be turned into a racetrack when the OVO Energy Women’s Tour arrives at around 1.50pm. More than 100 women’s cyclists will be taking part, and racing to the finish line in Hylton Road.

The event is family friendly, and the city council is also encouraging people to enjoy the other activities taking place on the day.

At Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum a new Ice Age exhibition will launch. Celebrating half a million years of county’s history, the exhibition focuses on the time our ancestors arrived in the area until the end of the last Ice Age 12,000 years ago. Visitors can come face-to-face with a Neanderthal, crawl inside an Ice Age shelter and meet Fluffy the Woolly Mammoth. The exhibition runs from Saturday until September 8. A woolly mammoth will also be cycling around the city on a bike, to promote the exhibition.

Ice Age the film is being screened from 11am on a big screen in Cathedral Square, and Grease is being shown at 7pm - ensuring there is no clash with the cycling. The following day Jumanji (2017) will be shown from 1pm. It is recommended to grab a space up to one hour before the advertised film starts as the square has a maximum capacity. People attending are asked to bring chairs or blankets to sit on and under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

Meanwhile the University of Worcester's is giving cyclists the chance to try out their 50 electric bikes. This free activity takes place at the University’s riverside campus. The Festival include free performances by Matuki, Hotsteppas, the new Worcestershire Poet Laureate and a bhangra dancing workshop.
