MAYOR Jabba Riaz was joined by military personnel and councillors to observe the raising of the Armed Forces Day Flag over the Guildhall.
Armed Forces Day takes place on Saturday, June 30, but the celebrations began today (Monday) when the flag will be raised on buildings and famous landmarks around the UK.
“Armed Forces Day is a chance to show your support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community,” said Cllr Riaz.
“We are raising the flag over the Guildhall as a sign of thanks and respect to all those who put themselves in the front line in order to protect our freedom and way of life.”
Present were representatives from the 214 (Worcestershire) Battery, the Mercian Regiment, Worcester Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club, City of Worcester Squadron Royal Air Force Cadets and Sea Cadets.
The 214 Battery brought along a L118 light gun and Pinz utility vehicle, which were on display in the courtyard.
