THIS was the moment football fans celebrated England's win over Colombia in the World Cup.

The video was filmed in Worcester's Mode bar immediately after England won on penalties last night.

England supporters also flocked to The Cross, in Worcester, following the match.

Fans were caught on camera climbing lamp posts at the junction and chanting in celebration of England's triumph.

Jamie Andrews, aged 21, of St George's Lane North, Worcester, said: "It was very rowdy and the crowd was full of energy.

"But it was actually really pleasant to see everyone just happy and having some fun, with nobody causing any issues from too much drink etc.

"The police had smiles on whilst doing their job keeping everyone safe too, so tops to them!"

Worcester Carnival has now changed the start time for its procession through the city - to avoid clashing with England's next game against Sweden on Saturday.

The parade will begin at 2.30pm, instead of 3pm, at Worcester's Pitchcroft, ahead of the Sweden game, which starts at 3pm.

Owner of the Columbia Cafe in Angel Place, Francina Oforio, said celebrations had been good natured.

He said: “It was sad – but I have lived in this country a long time so it was like seeing my two countries play.

“Although I was sad for Colombia it was an amazing match.”

He added: “The café is open now. It is only a football match.”

Nigel Huddleston, MP for Mid Worcestershire, has also shared a video on Twitter showing politicians celebrating the win in Westminster.
