Sports awards organisers in Worcester have started their search for an outstanding young female sports personality to succeed the current world-class title holder.
Commonwealth and British judo champion, Sian Bobrowska was crowned Junior Female Sports Person of the Year at last year’s City of Worcester Sport Awards.
Since picking up her 2017 award trophy, Sian won the British Judo National Championships in the under 18 and under 21 categories and notched up another five medals in home
nations and European competitions. Sian is the reigning Junior Commonwealth Champion and ranked seventh in the world, and now has her sights set on the 2024 Olympics.
Freedom Leisure’s Active Communities Manager, Matt Rogers said: “Sian is surely a tough act to follow but we are hoping for a clutch of contenders for the 2018 title. We are
looking for nominees who may be performing at a high level; representing their city, county, region or country or who have made a significant contribution to their club or chosen sport.”
The City of Worcester Sport Awards are delivered in partnership with Freedom Leisure Active Communities and Sport Worcester and supported by Worcester City Council.
At the 15th annual awards evening, at the University of Worcester Arena on September 13, long-standing supporter Steve Cram MBE will host 120 sporting VIPs, award nominees, clubs, businesses and sponsors.
