A TEENAGE girl has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a bus.

The accident happened in Deansway near the Heart of Worcestershire College at around 2.35pm.

Deansway is currently closed between All Saints Road and City Walls Road and is expected to be closed for a 'considerable' amount of time. Delays are expected and motorists are advised to find alternative routes.

An air ambulance has landed on Worcester Racecourse and two ambulances are in attendance.

Chief Inspector Melanie Crowther said: "At around 2.35pm today (Monday, August 20) West Mercia Police received a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Deansway, Worcester. The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and has been airlifted to hospital.

"The road remains closed at this time, and a diversion has been put in place.

"Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 425 of August 20. You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111."
