A PUB near Worcester has taken the coveted title of Worcestershire's dining pub of the year, in a list of the county's best foodie hotspots.

The Good Food Guide 2019 has given the Talbot at Knightwick the county title for the second year in a row.

Recommending the Bromyard Road venue, the Good Food Guide writes: “Interesting old coaching inn with good own-brewed beer, highly regarded food and riverside garden.

“With rewarding food, consistently helpful, friendly staff and own brews, this former coaching inn is a winner."

Steve Thorley, the Talbot’s executive chef and general manager, praised the pub's team for their consistency and passion for cooking and customer service.

“We pride ourselves on using local produce and food produced on site in our gardens, brewery and bakery, as will as produce we have foraged,” Mr Thorley said.

“The Clift family have owned the pub for 35 years in November and their ethos has remained throughout.”

The Good Food Guide 2019 is compiled by Waitrose and partners, and ranks the top places to dine in the UK.

Writing about the national category the Good Food Guide added: "We are incredibly lucky to have such gifted chefs providing wonderful food in so many of our pubs."
