RESIDENTS are still without a post office in Dines Green - nearly a year after the only one in the area shut.

The Dines Green Post Office, in Gresham Road, Worcester, closed on September 27 last year because of “operational reasons.”

It means residents are forced to walk over a mile into St John’s to access their nearest Post Office services - and there is no sign of any change.

Cllr Richard Udall, said: “Dines Green is the second largest social housing estate in the city and needs a post office.

“I receive complaints almost weekly from residents, many who are too infirm to travel into St John’s to use the next nearest post office. I have requested a temporary post office or a mobile one to visit the estate on a regular basis, both requests have been declined.

“It is very frustrating. As a local councillor I want to help the residents I represent, but the Post Office appear to be oblivious to the concerns and not willing to enter into any discussion about how the problems can be resolved.”

A Post Office spokesperson said: “We sincerely apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of Dines Green Post Office.

"We understand and appreciate how much communities rely on our services.

“We are working hard to restore services for the community as quickly as possible. In the meantime, customers can access services at any Post Office, including St Johns and Worcester.”
