A BOXER has set up free fitness sessions with the aim of making the city a healthier place.

Jon Shaw, a semi-professional boxer based in Worcester, who has 10 years’ experience in the fitness industry, will be holding group sessions with Matt Tout, a local pugilist.

Last year, Mr Tout weighed 20 stone 7lbs but has lost four stone since he started training with Mr Shaw.

Mr Shaw said that most people know the importance of a healthy lifestyle but struggle to take part in exercise classes due to the cost.

“We aspire to create a community of people that will help, support and guide each other towards hitting their individual goals," he told the Worcester News.

“When I boxed in Leicester at a Cash Fighter event, over 100 people from Worcester came to support me," he added.

"From that moment, I decided I wanted to give something back to the community and the people of Worcester.”

Everyone is welcome to attend the sessions, regardless of their age, ability or fitness level. The exercises will involve circuit training, jogging and more.

The fitness sessions are every Friday at Brickfields Park from 6.30pm to 7.30pm and will be outdoors, so participants should dress accordingly.

If you would like to get involved call Mr Shaw on 07548 350069.
