THOUSANDS of runners of all ages and abilities showed their mettle at the Worcester City Run.

The Mayor of Worcester, Cllr Jabba Riaz, had the honour of sounding the horn to begin the half-marathon, junior run and 10k which began and ended at Croft Road, Worcester, on Sunday.

The fastest time for the half marathon was recorded by Phillip Matthews (1:09:40) followed by Daniel Hallam (1:10:05) and Stuart Hawkes (1:11:17).

The fastest women were Nicola Sykes (1:21:33), Sarah Davis (1:27:47) and Catie O’Donoghue (1:28:04).

The 10K male winners were Kadar Abdullahi (32:21), Samuel Mitchell (32:33) and Marcus England (33:30). The female winners were Grace Brock (34:26), Louise Small (35:17) and Jo Moultrie (36:50).

The under 11 male winners (over one mile) were Joe Maddook (6:37), Rufus Jeffrey (7:18) and Arlo Williams (7:25). The under 11 female winners were Natalie Seyler (7:38), Annabel Plant (7:50) and Scarlett England (7:52).

The under 16 junior male winners over 3km were Cairan Lines (10:34), Sam Davey (10:38) and Oliver Hill (11:32). The under 16 female junior winners were Evie Hawkesford-Johnson (12:23),Charlotte Broadhurst (12:27) and Lauren Kennard (12:32)

Many of the athletes were raising money and awareness for charity, including St Richard’s Hospice, Sight Concern and Worcester Snoezelen.
