WHEN you’re cleaning windows, have you ever decided you want to play the ukulele like George Formby, or even better?

If so, the ideal workshop is coming to Worcester, and no musical experience will be necessary.

Worcester Ukulele Club, which was recently named as the 14th best ukulele club in the world, will offer a Beginners’ Workshop at The Hive, on Sunday, October 7, from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

A spokesman said: “Come and join us and learn to play the ukulele and have some fun.

“You don’t need to own a ukulele or a music stand, there will be instruments to borrow for the day. You don’t need to know anything about music when you arrive, but by the time you leave you should have learned a few basic chords and a simple song or two.

“Worcester Ukulele Club began back in 2010 with a handful of people on a course at Elgar School of Music.

“There are now about 100 active WUCcies - as they are known. Many perform at gigs, raising money for the club’s chosen charity, which this year is Headway - working to improve life after brain injury. Popular music from all eras and genres is played.”

As sales of the ukulele are said to be rising faster than any other musical instrument in the UK, members of Worcester Ukulele Club naturally want to share their passion.

The workshop is for over 18s only.

To book, contact: workshop@emaildodo.com. Places are limited to 20 and available on a first come first served basis.

Over the years the club has met at different venues as membership has grown. It now meets at The Hive in Monday on a Monday evening from 7.30pm to 9.30pm and regularly attracts some 50 to 60 players, with our without a little stick of Blackpool rock.
