Update: Highways England tweeted traffic has been released on the #M5 northbound at J5.

A lane remains closed emergency resurfacing after a collision and vehicle fire.

Update: Highways England have tweeted: "Lanes 1 and 2 have now reopened. Lanes 3 and 4 are closed. Initial inspections show that lane 4 may have to be resurfaced due to fire damage/ spillages."

A CAR fire is causing traffic chaos on the M5.

We have been told that three lanes on the M5 northbound by junction five, near Droitwich have closed due to the fire. Emergency services are not yet at the scene.

Rasty Chubbs was driving past the fire around 15 minuets ago: "All of a sudden the signs changed, and then there was black smoke. It's rush hour now so it's going to be chaos. Everyone will want to get off the Motorway at Droitwich, but the fire is by the junction."

Highways tweeted that delays are building quickly on the approach. "Please allow plenty of extra journey time and approach with care."
