Astronomers, space authors, rocket scientists – you'll be able to meet them all at Space Day 2018 at The Hive.

At the event, a 360 degree, 3D virtual reality planetarium will have audiences flying through the universe and learning what it's like to become an astronaut.

Children will have the opportunity to talk to the experts and ask everything they ever wanted to know about space.

They can take a virtual reality walk on Mars and use a simulator to dock a Soyuz spacecraft at the International Space Station.

For those a little older, there is the chance to meet the creators of K9 and the spaceships from the science fiction television series Doctor Who and Blake's 7 as well as two talks and readings from sci-fi authors.

Janine Downes, manager at The Hive, said: "Space Day is one of the pinnacles of The Hive annual calendar.

"Each year we have scores of families coming to enjoy all things space, it truly is a wonderful day and this year will be no exception.

"In fact this year we have over 30 exhibitors attending the day all bringing something completely different.

"So, it is safe to say this Space Day is set to be bigger and better than any before.

"We'd like to thank the British Interplanetary Society for contacting the exhibitors and their help in organising this event."

This year's event runs from 11am to 4pm on Saturday, October 6.
