A WANTED man from Worcester has been arrested after a police chase in the city centre this morning (Monday, October 1).

The 25-year-old man was said to have been "shaking" the police van, following his arrest, according to eyewitnesses.

West Mercia Police said the man, who had been wanted on warrant, was apprehended by officers near Bushwackers at 10.15am.

He was taken to Worcester Police Station in Castle Street.

Officers said they were unable to name him as "investigations are ongoing".

An eyewitness, who asked not to be named, said: "It was in the city centre of Worcester next to Lloyd’s bank and loads of police turned up and a man ran away down the ally next to the bank, but they caught him and tackled him to the ground and pinned him down while they searched him.

They added: "He was shouting and was restless and when they put him in the back of the van he was shouting and banging, whilst shaking the van."
