A CROWDFUNDING page has been set up to raise money for memorials in remembrance of student Tom Jones.

The teenager, who was known as 'Jonah' vanished in the early hours of September 19 after a night out during his first week at the University of Worcester.

His body was found in the River Severn, in Worcester, on Friday.

The page is hoping to raise money to pay for memorials at Worcester University, West Bromwich Albion Football Club, South Bromsgrove High School and Bromsgrove Sporting Football Club.

Writing on Facebook, pal Harley Hetherington, who set up the page, said: "We will never forget the amazing person you were. I hope you're brightening up heaven and making sure everyone up there knows why we all loved you so much."

He added: "As of yet no official memorials are being planned. The family deserve their time to remember Tom in their own way and when they are ready they will choose what they want."

Posting on the Crowdfunding page, he said: "A true legend was lost but the memory of him deserves to live forever. "

Thousands took part in the week-long search for Tom, who went missing after a night out in Worcester.

A candlelight vigil for Tom took place at Worcester's Sabrina Bridge on Sunday night and bouquets of flowers were left next to the railings.

So far more than £1,450 has been donated, about three quarters of the original target.

All additional proceeds will go to charities chosen by Tom's family.
