UPDATE: The man arrested has been "released under investigation", police revealed on Tuesday morning.

A 52-YEAR-old has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman died in Malvern.

The 46-year-old woman was found dead in a home in Apple Orchard Close, in Malvern, on Sunday morning.

Paramedics attended the property and treated a man for injuries, later transporting him to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

Residents who live near the scene told the Worcester News that they had been left frightened by the suspected murder.

Superintendent Tom Harding, of West Mercia Police, said: "We know local residents will be concerned and I would like to reassure them this appears to be an isolated incident and we do not believe there to be any risk to the wider public.

"There will continue to be a police presence in the area over the coming days as officers carry out enquiries to establish the circumstances around the woman's death. Officers are also there to offer reassurance to local residents."

A member of the public called the ambulance service at 11.46am and reported a cardiac arrest at the property.

Paramedics arrived at the scene at 11.50am, although they struggled to gain access and apparently had to climb through a window to get inside.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances to the home and also asked West Mercia Police to attend the incident at 11.55am.

The first police unit arrived at 12.06pm.

A resident said: "The paramedics couldn't get in when they first turned up. They didn't have access.

"Some lady went round to talk to them and then they disappeared.

"The ambulance service was there before the police were."

Neighbours told the Worcester News that they felt frightened following the suspected murder.

One dad said: "I'm in fear, I've got three children."

His partner added: "We want to know what happened, we are worried about the people around us."

The couple said they first realised that something was happening when their children spotted blue lights flashing through the windows.

Another local told the Worcester News: "I might be locking my door from now on."

An 88-year-old woman, who lives near the home, said she saw police coming and going from the house yesterday.

She added: "There were police cars and white vans. We knew that something serious was going on. A police car was there all night.

"There have been quite a few different people who have lived there over the years."

Some of the windows at the property are boarded up, with locals claiming that this has been the case for months.

One resident said police previously smashed a window with a ramming device to get inside.

The woman's death is currently being treated as unexplained and the arrested man remains in custody.

Police are currently in the area to carry out enquiries into the woman's death and offer reassurance to local residents.
