A PRIMARY school continues to have a ‘good’ Ofsted rating following its most recent inspection.

A short inspection on July 11 found that Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Primary, on Bransford Road, St John’s, has maintained its good quality of education in the school

since the last inspection in 2014.

The report found that headteacher, Maria Miles, has “successfully addressed the key issues raised at the previous inspection.”

The letter from inspector Sarah Somers reads: “Parents who spoke to me during the inspection were very positive about all aspects of the school, including the care and guidance their children receive. They say their children enjoy school and are well looked after.

“Relationships between staff and children are good and pupils show respect for adults. Leaders have ensured that pupils understand the learning attitudes and behaviours that will bring success. For example, in the early years, children were proud to be identified as a ‘concentration crocodile’ and ‘persevering parrot’.

“The recent assessments undertaken show that more children have attained a good level of development than last year.”

The next step for the leaders of the school is to improve their communication with parents by regularly sampling their views.

Chairwoman, Marie Yates, said: “It is a well-deserved recognition of the hard work and commitment of the staff, governors and pupils as well as the strong support of the parents and carers in our school community. The leadership team, developed over recent years, has consistently focused on standards of teaching and learning, giving our pupils the best opportunities to reach their full potential.”
