A CONVICTED rapist who escaped court and went on the run will appear at crown court to face justice for fleeing.

Bradley Tout appeared before magistrates this morning charged with escaping from lawful custody on October 3, but the case was quickly adjourned to be heard at Worcester Crown Court.

The 20-year-old, of Durham Road, Ronkswood, Worcester, had jumped the dock and ran out of court after being convicted of the rape of a 16-year-old girl.

He was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison in his absence on October 4.

Tout had been on the run for five days before handing himself into police on Monday morning.

Shafquat Reaz, prosecuting, at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court today, said it was an "indictable only matter" and no application for bail had been submitted.

Emily Gorley, defending, said she believed her client intended to plead guilty.

Tout, who spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth, was wearing a grey sweatshirt.

GEO Amey, the security firm at Worcester Crown Court on the day of Tout’s escape, had made a request to the court that the defendant be handcuffed during the hearing, which was accepted.

Tout is due to appear at crown court on November 5.

He was supported by three members of family in the public gallery today, and one shouted: "See you soon, Brad!" as he was led out of court.
