FREELY adapted from the famous Ealing Studios comedy of the 1950s, expect some surprises when The Ladykillers bring their sinister presence to Colwall Village Hall.

In this black comedy, the unwitting heroine is sweetly eccentric Mrs Wilberforce who lives alone with her raucous parrot in a house built over the entrance to a railway tunnel at Kings Cross station.

When criminal mastermind Professor Marcus and a motley crew of misfits pose as amateur musicians to rent rooms from the unsuspecting Mrs Wilberforce, no-one believes that they’re planning a daring robbery.

But when Mrs Wilberforce’s naivety gives way to righteous indignation, the gang’s best laid plans start to unravel.

With his brilliant plot rumbled, the Professor decides there’s only one way to keep the old lady quiet, Mrs Wilberforce must face the music.

And he doesn’t mean a string quartet…

Performances are the Village Hall, Mill Lane, on Thursday to Saturday, November 1 to 3, at 7.30pm.
