Arran Arogundade knows a thing or two about dedication as a World Fitness Championship winner.

The manager of Worcester’s Fitness4Less gym puts his success down to dedication and motivation, saying: “When you are competing you have to be very dedicated and put whatever struggles you had yesterday behind you.”

Originally from Banbury, Arran, 27, started his path to success when he was at the University of East London studying media.

He said: “I was always in the gym and interested in staying fit, playing a lot of football and rugby at uni.

“I asked the owner of the gym if he had any jobs going and started in Bethnal Green.

“The owner of the gym franchise saw me and my work and as they were expanding, the position came up and we opened in Canning Town.”

Eventually Arran found himself transferred to the Worcester site, and an environment he loves.

He said “It is a great environment to work in.

“People are happy to see each other where usually they are not so happy to see you.

“You build a rapport with people and you build a community within the gym and so Worcester is an environment I really like.”

In 2014, Arran went to the World Fitness Championships in Montreal, Canada, where he competed against other bodybuilders from across the world in exhibition.

The event saw him needing to achieve the lowest body fat percentage possible and building a lean physique before posing individually and as part of a group during the event.

Arran said the participation came about after a breakup, saying: “I had recently broken up with a girlfriend and wanted to compete and see how good I could look for my kids in the future. That was my main motivation.”

Arran has words of encouragement for anyone starting out, saying: “You have to be very dedicated and all the work and training you put in really counts.

“Everything is possible with dedication.”
