MICK Abrahams, one of the many guitarists who burst on to the music scene during the British blues rock explosion of the late 1960s, is in Worcester this weekend.

A founding member of Jethro Tull and driving force behind Blodwyn Pig, Abrahams will perform at Worcester's Huntingdon Hall tomorrow night.

Blodwyn Pig's two albums, Ahead Rings Out (1969) and Getting To This (1970), were an amalgamation of Jethro Tull's progressive blues and the jazzier influences of the Pig's saxophonist Jack Lancaster. Both records spent several weeks at the top of the UK chart and led to Abrahams appearing on Top Of The Pops, In Concert on Radio 1 with The Mick Abrahams Band and substantial success in Europe.

After stepping out of the limelight during the late 70s and 80s, Abrahams revived Blodwyn Pig when enthusiastic fans encouraged him. The 90s saw him writing and recording new material, both as a Pig and a solo artist.

Tomorrow night he performs at the hall with as much heart and soul as when he started out mroe than 30 years ago. The gig starts at 8pm. For tickets call the box office on 01905 611427.
