SIR – Your issue of October 9 devoted a whole page to Worcester-born novelist, Mrs Henry Wood (‘Honour Mrs Wood’).
A lady called Molly Harris wishes to promote the erection of a blue plaque at 2 College Street [ie Green]. Why?
Surely the imposing memorial in the cathedral and the inscription on Danesbury House in Sidbury are more than sufficient. Moreover, there is no evidence to support any claim that the author ever lived at 2 College Green.
Incidentally, the property in Sidbury (erected in 1889 on the site of the house once occupied by the Price family) was named after Mrs Henry Wood’s novel, not the reverse (as Ms Harris suggests)
