FIFTY young people from Worcester churches took part in a mission to help take care of their city.

Now in its fourth year, The Noise Youth Mission weekend event saw the 50 children, aged 11 to 18, completing several projects across the city including assisting with The Good Soil scheme at Top Barn Farm where they also camped onsite.

On Sunday the group split to work on separate projects with the aim to make a loud ‘noise’ of love for the city.

Worcester Foodbank has welcomed a group to assist with food collections for all four years of The Noise, and this year a team collected and sorted 625kg of food ready for the next few busy months.

While a Sunday lunch was cooked for 25 senior citizens, other groups taking part in The Noise worked with the Worcester Parks team, building bird boxes and assisting with litter picking in Cripplegate Park.

Leader Rebecca Rammell, trainee youth worker at Worcester Baptist Church, said: “I’ve gone to The Noise since it first started four years ago.

“I was project leader for the ‘seniors lunch’ project. The team got the food out on time and it looked delicious.”

Rev Amy Wearing, minister for youth and children at St Peter’s Baptist Church and leader of The Noise, said: “This is the fourth year of The Noise Youth Mission and each year I am blown away by the young people and their hearts to serve our city.

“Despite the cold and rain, they got stuck in and made a real difference – I am proud of every single one of them.”
