CHARITIES for vulnerable people in Worcester are asking for donations this Christmas – and have released a list of where to give items.

In 2016, it was estimated that there were 124 homeless people in Worcester, and the charities have made it their mission to ‘help people live through homelessness’.

In June 2018, the Worcester Cares initiative was established to unite local organisations to help battle homelessness and poverty in a more effective way, with St Paul’s Hostel, Maggs Day Centre, Worcester Food Bank and the Worcester Street Café among those involved.

They have created a poster which shows people where to donate certain items.

Johnathon Sutton, chief executive of St Paul’s Hostel, said: “The Christmas donation poster was created to help the public understand what poverty and homelessness really is at Christmas.”

Where and what to donate:

  • St Paul’s Hostel, Tallow Hill – Calendars, books and DVDs, socks and underwear, deodorant and moisturisers, shampoo and conditioner, pens and notebooks, Christmas goodies and treats.
  • Maggs Day Centre, Deansway – Sleeping bags and roll mats, rucksacks, gloves and hats, socks and underwear, torches and batteries, deodorant and moisturisers, wet wipes, washing powder, men’s clothing, pens and notebooks, Christmas goodies and treats.
