SOME fans say that King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys are the undisputed Kings of Swing.

And a Worcester audience will soon be able to dunk into this music to make up their own minds, because His Beaming Majesty and his lively Biscuits have a November date at Worcester’s Huntingdon Hall.

A spokesman said: “Dazzling musicianship, riveting stage performances, more than 50 television appearances (including, somewhat bizarrely, five episodes of Teletubbies) and 75 radio broadcasts have established King Pleasure and The Biscuit Boys as the undisputed ‘Kings of Swing’.

“And 2018 is the year that these Kings are celebrating a remarkable 30 years on the road. In that time they have opened shows for B. B. King, Cab Calloway and his Orchestra, and Ray Charles, and toured with the Blues Brothers Band.”

The spokesman added: “Over the years the individual members may have changed but the band stays the same. The King himself and Bullmoose have been there from the beginning, but some of the other Biscuit Boys have changed, although not often. The latest recruit is dynamic pianist Mighty Matt Foundling, who took over from Crab-Claw Tromans shortly before the Hey Puerto Rico album – the band’s ninth – was recorded.

“Rough, tough and always rocking, King Pleasure and The Biscuit Boys have appeared at festivals, in concert and at clubs throughout the UK and Europe – and they still play the Birmingham Jazz and Blues Festival, where they have headlined for an unprecedented 14 years. They have managed to record 11 albums for Big Bear Records along the way, all of which have been distributed worldwide. They are considered to be the finest, most authentic rhythm and blues band ever to come from outside the USA.They’re the genuine article, in full working order.

The date for the diary is Friday November 30 at 7.30pm.
