THERE is no more infuriating crime, for its wantonness, than vandalism.
What possible motive was there for the vandals who attacked cars in Topham Avenue in Warndon Villages early on Saturday morning?
None, it would seem, other than their own perverse sense of fun.
One day, I hope, they will be the victim of such a crime: where something they cherish is damaged by someone else purely out of spite. Only then will they understand the severity of their actions on Saturday morning and possibly change their ways.
Tim Hill, one of the victims on Saturday, said “my Fiesta is my pride and joy” – and that puts the seriousness of the vandalism into perspective.
A car is something that most people work hard to save for, whether they’ve bought the vehicle outright or through finance, and so the devastation when their “pride and joy” is senselessly damaged cannot be underestimated.
As councillor Andrew Roberts, who saw the “aftermath” of the vandal attacks on Saturday said, the car owners were devastated.
