A 54 YEAR-OLD man from Worcester has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an alleged stabbing at a house in Tolladine.

Officers arrived at 36A Avon Road at around 12.30am on Wednesday and found that a man in his 20s had been the victim of a serious assault, believed to be a stabbing.

The man was taken to hospital and treated for his injuries, which are not thought to be life threatening.

A resident who saw the incident told the Worcester News: “I saw a man on the floor being resuscitated and there was blood everywhere.”

Police cordoned off the property and brought in forensics dogs to investigate the scene.

Residents in Avon Road and the wider Tolladine area said they were shocked by the incident.

One neighbour told the Worcester News: “We saw the police turn up with the dogs and they were here for a long time."

Commenting on the alleged stabbing, the neighbour added: “It is a shame because they seemed like nice guys normally.”

Yesterday morning, there was still blood on the door frame of the property and the tiles in the driveway.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said yesterday: “Police attended a premises on Avon Road in Worcester at around 12.30am yesterday morning (Wednesday) following a report of concern for the welfare of a man.

“On attendance a man in his 20s was located who had been the victim of a serious assault.

“He was treated at the scene by officers and was taken to hospital by ambulance. His injuries are not currently believed to be life threatening.

“A scene guard remained in place yesterday (Wednesday ) while officers conducted enquiries."
