Something different will be happening at St Martin’s Church in London Road, Worcester, this Saturday: a silent film night with live music.

Two silent comedy classics, Behind the Screen starring Charlie Chaplin and Steamboat Bill, Jr starring Buster Keaton, will be shown on a big screen and brought to life by Colin Sell at the piano, from 7.30pm.

Shirley Scott, concerts administrator at St Martin’s, said: “Fans of BBC Radio 4’s I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue will recognise the phrase ‘at the piano is Colin Sell’ and know that he can play just about anything that’s thrown at him. But his voice is never heard - at least, not anywhere near a microphone - possibly because he’s as funny as his fellow comedians. He’s a master of improvisation and a silent film enthusiast, and he will chat to the audience to introduce the films before bringing them to life with his own accompaniment.

“Music at St Martin’s has been raising funds to buy a lovely grand piano, which is now in place and will be heard to full effect in Colin’s hands."

Admission is £10 for adults or £5 for children and full-time students. Tickets are available from Eventbrite.co.uk or the Team Office at St Martin’s on weekday mornings (01905 358083).”
