AN exhibition of art inspired by the River Severn will be on display at a city school.
King’s School Art Department will exhibit “A Walk Along the River Severn” which will include a collection of small books produced by year 7 pupils in conjunction with Artist in Residence Jake Attree.
Mr Attree spent time walking along the banks of the river Severn with pupils, who then worked in class groups to record their observations in a variety of different printed art forms and poetry.
More than one hundred individual concertina books have been produced to display each pupil’s work. Mr Attree said: "The work displayed on the walls of the studios would not have disgraced any first-year degree course. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the school, which was made so much easier by everyone's hospitality and helpfulness. I also found this reflected in the beautiful city of Worcester." Rosie Ellender, King’s School fourth form art co-coordinator, said: “It’s been delightful to welcome Jake into school and introduce our pupils to his work and creative process.
"The pupils were genuinely inspired and consequently produced some fantastic work which we’re now excited to share with members of the public.”See the exhibition at the school's reception from 9am to 5pm until Friday.
