POLICE are appealing for witnesses after two people were attacked in the city centre – and have released CCTV shots of five people they want to speak to.

The victims, both males in their 20s, were assaulted across the road from the TSB Bank on Trinity Street, Worcester, at around 12.50am last Sunday (November 11).

A group of men approached the pair and started talking to them, before two of them punched the victims to the face, police have said.

One fell to the floor and hit his head, causing a cut to his head, while the other suffered a broken nose.

Both victims were taken to hospital for treatment for their injuries and have since been released.

PC Richard Foxall, from West Mercia Police, said: “This was a violent and disproportionate assault in which both victims suffered nasty injuries.

“We take all reports of this nature extremely seriously and a thorough investigation has begun.

“Enquiries are currently on going but we are keen to speak to the three men and two women pictured as we believe they may have vital information which could help with our investigation.

“We would urge anyone who saw the incident, who recognises the men or women pictured, or who was in the area at the time to please get in touch."

Anyone with any information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting incident number 50s of November 11.
