It’s time to enjoy some festive fun nights out on the town, but we need to stay in budget, which isn’t easy especially when we’ve enjoyed a drink or two.

Book in advance – Most clubs offer deals and discounts on advance booking, always worth a try.

Start partying at home – It works! A few friends, a few drinks and we’ve already started our night out and all at supermarket prices.

Discount vouchers – Chain restaurants are falling over themselves to grab our attention. Visit the voucher sites before visiting the restaurant!

Pay in cash – No matter how many promises we make to stay in budget, paying by card distances us from our spending, until we check the bank balance of course!

Avoid the rounds – We all like to stand our corner, but when we’re out in a large group, pity the poor guys or girls who buy the first couple of rounds as they pick up the bill for everyone, whereas those that don’t get to the bar until later, or maybe even never, get a very cheap night out; an easy way to lose friends.

Buy doubles – The initial outlay costs more, but make it last and save in the long run.

Drink water – Alternate alcoholic drinks with water. It’s cheaper and makes for a clearer head in the morning.

Late-night snacking – Fast food outlets work way into the night and for that there is a charge. Avoid the extra cost and calories by prepping something before leaving home and enjoy it later.

Transport – Public transport is obviously cheaper than a taxi, although sometimes a taxi is the only option. Book taxis in advance and share with friends if possible.

These are just a few ideas, if you have a top tip we would love to hear from you.
