CROWDS of people came to see Father Christmas as he paid the good boys and girls in the city a visit.

Shoppers lined up along the high street as Santa and his happy helpers made an appearance and announced that the most wonderful time of the year is finally here.

Santa arrived at the Guildhall with his helpers and greeted members of the public, while he handed out candy canes and posed for pictures.

There was a marching band going through the city to get everyone into the Christmas spirit.

The march ended on Friary Walk at the Crowngate.

Visitors had special access to Santa’s Base Station at Friary Square, where boys and girls met Father Christmas.

There was a variety of festive fun, including face painting, crafts and a reindeer-feeding games zone, with opportunities to play musical bumps, pass the parcel and the limbo but with a seasonal twist.

Festive songs were played throughout in Santa’s Base Station to celebrate the season to be jolly.

Father Christmas told the Worcester News: “Today has gone very well, Santa has had a busy day. There has been plenty of excitement among the children.

“It has been wonderful to see all the good boys and girls in Worcester. A big crowd followed me along the way from the Guildhall to my Base Station.”

Christmas late night shopping has begun in Worcester city centre, with many shops staying open until 8.00pm on Thursdays.
