Worcester's Victorian Christmas Fayre is back again for its 26th year with a host of festive activities to get you in the Christmas spirit.

The fayre will feature over 200 stalls and include food, entertainment, arts and festive gifts and officially opens on Thursday, November 29 with officials and Cathedral choristers proceeding down the High Street at 5.15pm.

Mayor of Worcester Jabba Riaz said: "The Victorian Fayre is one of the highlights on Worcester’s annual calendar, attracting visitors from across the UK and an eclectic mix of traders who offer unique and enticing produce.

"“Many of the items sold on the stalls have been made locally; you’re bound to pick up some great Christmas gifts and there’s lots of fun street entertainment too, so come on down!”

Carols will be sung by the Worcester Cathedral Voluntary Choir accompanied by the Salvation Army, and there will be a short biblical reading and prayer.

In addition to the fayre, The Hopmarket is offering a range of free activities for all ages at the Victorian Fayre Fringe Event, running from 10am to 6pm on Saturday December 1.

This will include a pop up art gallery featuring local artists, lantern making, Christmas arts and crafts, face painting, Christmas gifts, festive food, a Christmas selfie photo booth and musical accompaniment from jazz to violins and tribute bands.

There will also be traditional carol singing at 5.00pm from Wymsical Theatre, based at Worcester Arts Workshop.

The free family and friends pop up art gallery runs between 10am and 5pm every day until December 1 and will showcase ten local artists and artisans, from all mediums, subjects and styles.

Bill Simpson, trustee at The Hopmarket Charity said : “We are delighted to be putting on such a festive extravaganza this Christmas.

"As an independent shopping courtyard in the heart of our community, such events are hugely important to us, bringing residents, visitors and shop tenants together.”
