AS the 2018 Victorian Christmas Fayre opens in Worcester today, we've delved into our archives for a trip down memory lane.

From Ferris wheels to crepes and bishops on carousels, the Christmas fayre has seen its share of fun and laughter over the years - as these pictures show.

It celebrates its 26th anniversary this year but it has grown considerably since it first started in 1992 and more guests than ever are expected this year.

To help cope, a park-and-ride system will once again be helping to keep the city moving during the weekend.

The park-and-ride is operated in partnership with First Worcester Buses and Worcestershire County Council and runs between the car parks at County Hall into Crowngate, Worcester.

Last year saw more than 2,000 people using the service on Saturday and over 1,000 on Sunday.

This year, it will operate from County Hall to Crowngate Bus Station on Saturday, December 1 from 8.35am to 8.10 pm (last bus back to County Hall from Crowngate Bus Station) and on Sunday, December 2 from 9.45am to 5.10pm (last bus back to County Hall from Crowngate Bus Station).

Councillor Alan Amos, cabinet member for Highways said: “We are very happy to support this, now renowned, Christmas Fayre and help boost the local businesses and the city economy at one of the busiest times of the year.

“The Victorian Christmas Fayre brings a much needed boost to the local economy and for many, marks the beginning of the festive season.

“Our Park and Ride service offers a stress free alternative to struggling into the centre by car and helps to ease congestion.”

The year's fayre will officially open at 5.30pm tomorrow and runs until 5pm on Sunday, December 2.
