SIR – Every morning this week I have seen the now familiar sight of homeless people in doorways, each one of them was stoic about their circumstances and none of them were lacking in manners or politeness.

Whether they have a weakness for alcohol or drugs, or are loners who shun social contact, it should be within the means of this city to ensure a bed, inside a warm building, is always available if they want it.

People can be very vocal about human rights, homeless citizens have rights too.
