A WOMAN staying at a homeless camp, described as ‘a mini-Glastonbury’, has warned that she will return to the city's doorways if she is evicted.

Klair Bradshaw, aged 48, is sleeping at the settlement behind Primo Bar and Dining, in Sidbury, Worcester.

Worcester City Council served an eviction notice on the camp yesterday, following complaints by locals about drug dealing and anti-social behaviour.

Ms Bradshaw, who has lived at the camp for around four months, said: “If we get kicked out from here we will be back in the doorways.

“I’ve been on the streets a year this December, me, my partner and my dog.

“Being on the streets is not healthy. It’s shameful the way we have been treated. We are not doing anything wrong.

"I don't know what to do. I'm too old to go in a hostel."

Ms Bradshaw, originally from London, claimed she became homeless after her landlord sold the property she was living in.

She added that she does not have any family that she can stay with and said the council has not housed her for various reasons.

Those staying at the site denied locals' allegations about drug dealing and anti-social behaviour at the camp - and insisted that they were simply trying to survive.

A Worcester City Council spokesman previously said: “We served a notice to leave on them yesterday (Thursday). This required them to leave the land immediately. If they are still there 48 hours after the notice was served we can consider further action, which may involve seeking a court order.

“We are working closely with rough sleeper support services and the police and will be giving high priority to the welfare of the rough sleepers in the actions we take.”

One Worcester News reader, Kylie Kelly, has set up a Just Giving fundraising page to help house or support the people living at the camp.

The page was set up on Wednesday and has already raised almost £200.
