A SCHOOL which has recently come out of special measures will now become part of an academy trust.

Dines Green Primary, in Tudor Way, Worcester, was placed in special measures by Ofsted after an inspection in February 2017 classed the school as 'inadequate'.

A monitoring inspection took place earlier this month and found that Dines Green's leaders had taken effective action to improve the school.

This led to a full inspection on November 13 to14, resulting in Dines Green no longer being graded as inadequate. Inspector Sandy Hayes rated the school overall as 'requires improvement'.

The school will now be joining Mercian Education Trust, based in Malvern, which includes Somers Park School, Great Malvern Primary and Malvern Vale Primary.

In her Ofsted report, the inspector said the quality of teaching and the curriculum is improving rapidly which is the result of skilled leadership by headteacher Andrew Morley.

Mr Morley said: “We are very aware that there is still much to do to put Dines Green back where it belongs and have some very clear areas identified to continue to improve. This is just the beginning of the journey for our wonderful school and we are all excited about the future - to ensure that our community has the best possible school to deliver the best possible education for its children.”

Mr Morley added: “We are very excited about joining the trust and working closely with the other schools to continue to work to give our pupils the best possible education and raise their aspirations.”
