THE only T.Rex tribute band officially endorsed by Marc Bolan’s family has a December date at Worcester’s Huntingdon Hall.

The 1970s superstar Marc Bolan is now considered to be a major innovator of the 1970s glam-rock scene and the T.Rex hits still sound pretty fresh today.

A spokesman said: “From 1970 to 1976 he had written fifteen Top 20 hits and between 1968 and 1974 had notched up nine Top 20 albums. But on September 16, at the age of 29, Marc’s life was cut short due to a fatal car accident.

“Now that over 40 years have passed by, T.Rextasy continues to celebrate Marc’s legacy by recreating that special authentic sound and the Bolanic imagery that Marc possessed, playing all of the iconic hits totally live and with an energy and passion that fans of any generation will enjoy, including I Love To Boogie, 20th Century Boy, Ride A White Swan, Metal Guru and Children of the Revolution.”

T.Rextasy has now been gigging around the world for over 20 years, a career that ironically far outlives Marc Bolan’s very own T.Rex.

In fact, it could be argued, they almost deserve their own tribute act.

The spokesman said: “The band is now accepted as the world’s only official live tribute band dedicated to Marc Bolan and T.Rex, and the only band endorsed and approved by Marc Bolan’s family, estate, original ex-members of T.Rex, and Bolan’s catalogue management.

“Due to their passion, musical ability, longevity, and attention to detail, the band is consistently described by many as both legendary and beyond the boundaries of tribute.

“If you want to know exactly what a Marc Bolan rock ’n’ roll concert felt like in the 1970s, this is the gig for you.”

If in doubt, consider the words of the original T.Rex drummer, Billy Legend who said: “They’re the closest you’re ever going to get to the real thing.”

The gig takes place on Friday, December 14, from 7.30pm. For tickets, call the box office on 01905 611427 or go to worcesterlive.co.uk
