A MUM from Worcester has written a book to inspire children with autism and raise money for charity.

Melanie Eastwood, 33, was inspired to write a book after witnessing the struggles of her son, Jack.

Jack is four years old and on the autism spectrum, and Mrs Eastwood said she wanted to do something to change perceptions.

The Adventures of Jack Attack features a boy whose autistic traits are superpowers.

Mrs Eastwood said: “I felt very alone and judged for having a child who is different.

“You see the looks and hear the comments and it really affected my mental health. I felt so alone and thought maybe it was me that was the issue.

“I wanted to educate parents and children who read the story as we are all quirky in our own way and it’s ok to be different. For children who have additional needs to have their own superhero and embrace who they are is great.”

A number of publishers have expressed an interest in the book and Mrs Eastwood plans to give some of the proceeds to the Autistic Society.
